Balkan Universities Association (BUA) was founded in 2014 and currently has 87 members. This year, the Association is chaired by the Rector of the University of Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Sci. Nermina Hadžigrahić.
The University of Tuzla will have the honor of hosting the BUA conference in 2023. On the occasion of the organization of the upcoming Conference, the delegation of the University of Trakya from the Republic of Turkey, consisting of Ph.D. Erhan Tabakoğlu, rector and Ph.D. Osman Nuri Hatipoğlu, the vice-rector for international cooperation, visited the University of Tuzla on the 19th and the 20th of July 2023. Trakya University is the initiator of the establishment of the Association.
A series of meetings were held where the exact date of the conference and the main topics of the conference were defined.
The BUA 2023 conference will be held on the 27th and the 28th of September 2023.

The topics of the conference are:
- Internationalization at the Balkans’ universities: Potentials and challenges
- The Role of University Networks in the European Integration of the Balkans
- Youth and Youth Participation in the Balkans
- Migrations in the Balkans: Challenges and Future Perspectives
- The conference will be organized in the format of panel discussions.
