On December 18, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., the University of Tuzla hosted a ceremonial academy to mark its 48th anniversary. The event was attended by esteemed members of the academic community, including:
- Dr. Zoran Tomić, Rector of the University of Mostar
- Dr. Atif Hodžić, Rector of the University of Bihać
- Dr. Radoslav Gajanin, Rector of the University of Banja Luka
- Dr. Alena Huseinbegović, Rector of the “Džemal Bijedić” University of Mostar
- Dr. Vlado Guberac, Rector of the University “Josip Juraj Strossmayer” in Osijek
- Dr. Biljana Petrović, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research at the University of Kragujevac
- Dr. Marko Gutalj, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Quality Assurance at the University of East Sarajevo
- Dr. Željko Ivandić, Vice-Rector for Teaching, Students, and Study Programs at the University of Slavonski Brod
- And numerous other distinguished guests.
The ceremony commenced with renditions of the national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the academic anthem Gaudeamus, performed by students of the Secondary Music School “Čestmir Mirko Dušek.”
Welcoming addresses were delivered by:
- Dr. Nermina Hadžigrahić, Rector of the University of Tuzla
- Dr. Zoran Tomić, Rector of the University of Mostar
- Dr. Vlado Guberac, Rector of the University of Osijek
- Dr. Enes Hašić, Director of the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Ahmed Omerović, Minister of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton
The event also included the presentation of Golden Plaques to the University of Tuzla’s top-performing students. Among them was Belkisa Hasanović, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine with a perfect grade point average of 10, who addressed the audience as the Golden Student.
Additionally, the University honored five professors with the title of “Professor Emeritus” and conferred the title of “Full Professor” upon 23 esteemed faculty members.
The cultural and artistic segment of the ceremony featured performances by MA Mahmutović from the University’s Academy of Dramatic Arts and students of the Secondary Music School “Čestmir Mirko Dušek.”
The program concluded with a short video presentation outlining plans for the future development of the University of Tuzla campus, as well as an exhibition titled Education in the Tuzla Region from the Ottoman to the Socialist Era, curated by Mr. Omer Zulić, Saneta Adrović, Mr. Jasmin Jajčević, and Selma Isić.
This solemn occasion not only celebrated the University of Tuzla’s legacy and achievements over the past 48 years but also highlighted its ambitious vision for the future.
