FACULTY OF MEDICINE

 

The Faculty of Medicine has had a long and rich tradition in research since its foundation in 1976.

 

The research areas of interest and expertise to the Faculty of Medicine are:

Basic medical sciences (physiology, anatomy, histology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, pathology, microbiology, molecular medicine)

Clinical-medicine sciences (gastroenterology, cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, neurology, psychiatry, gynecological oncology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, pediatrics, infectology, dermatology, physiatry, surgery and radiology)

Public health care (occupational medicine, family medicine, social medicine, epidemiology, hygiene and health care ecology)

 

Research activities are carried out through implementation of:

Doctoral dissertations and masters’ theses research carried out as a part of doctoral and masters’ studies

Research and development projects supported by various organizations and funds such as Tuzla Canton Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Federal Ministry of Education and Science, B-H Ministry of Civil Affairs (research and development projects carried out in cooperation between Republic of Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina), WUS, EU and USA funds for science.

 

 

Results of research activities carried out at the Faculty of Medicine are dozens of scientific papers published in indexed journals (C, SCI) and several hundreds of papers published in relevant national and foreign journals indexed in various international bases of indexation, except for the CC base.

The teaching staff of the Faculty of Medicine participate in a number of international congresses, symposiums and conferences every year, in which they present their research results. The Faculty of Medicine, in cooperation with UKC (University and Clinical Center) Tuzla, organizes annual national conferences, congresses and symposiums with international participants. To this day, 165 doctoral dissertations and 363 masters’ theses have been defended at the Faculty of Medicine.
