A coordination meeting of the CEEPUS network “Training and Research in Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology” was held from 11 to 13 March 2026 at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Ljubljana. The network includes the Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Tuzla as one of its active members.

The meeting and accompanying workshops brought together 26 local coordinators representing the majority of partner institutions within the network. Prof. Dr. Mersiha Suljkanović, acting as the local coordinator for the Department of Chemistry, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the CEEPUS-related activities conducted at both the department and faculty levels. She highlighted the outcomes of previously established collaborations and placed particular emphasis on the significance of student mobility programmes involving students of the Department of Chemistry.

Following the official approval for the continuation of the network’s activities in the 2026/2027 academic year, discussions focused on further strengthening student mobility, as well as exploring opportunities for the joint supervision of master’s and doctoral theses and the advancement of collaborative scientific research initiatives.

Participation in the CEEPUS network has, over the past five years, resulted in the successful implementation of eight student mobilities, along with several staff mobilities. These exchanges have been carried out in cooperation with partner institutions such as Brno University of Technology – Faculty of Chemistry; University of Zagreb – Faculty of Science; University of Łódź – Department of Instrumental Analysis, Faculty of Chemistry; Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava; University of Pécs – Department of Environmental Protection; and BOKU – University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna – Institute for Biophysics.

Particularly noteworthy are the established collaborations with the Faculty of Health Sciences Ljubljana, the Faculty of Science of the University of Zagreb, the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the University of Ljubljana, and the Institute of Physics of the University of Belgrade, among others.
