On June 12, the University of Tuzla officially opened the 30th edition of its Summer University — a longstanding academic event that for three decades has been fostering education, international cooperation, culture, and sports. This prominent annual gathering brings together a large number of lecturers, students, and guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region, promoting the values of knowledge, experience-sharing, and social responsibility.

The opening ceremony was moderated by Professor Dr. Vesna Bratovčić, Vice-Rector for International and Inter-University Cooperation, who has been dedicated to organizing this event for many years. The Summer University is widely recognized not only for its academic excellence, but also for its openness, diversity, and innovative spirit.

Professor Dr. Nermina Hadžigrahić, Rector of the University of Tuzla, addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of the Summer University for advancing the internationalization of education and strengthening inter-university collaboration. She emphasized that such events enable students and faculty to broaden their perspectives, acquire new knowledge and experiences, and build connections that transcend borders.

The Minister of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton, Mr. Ahmed Omerović, also spoke at the event, commending the continuity and quality of the Summer University, and reaffirming the Ministry’s support for the University’s efforts to enhance higher education and its openness to the world.

An inspiring message was delivered by Professor Dr. Mirsa Đonlagić, a distinguished university professor and former Vice-Rector for Inter-University Cooperation, who reflected on the University’s development over the years and the importance of preserving academic values.

A particular highlight of the event was the presentation by Professor Blatnik, a renowned expert, who spoke on the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence in modern education and society — opening up further discussion on the future of knowledge and technology.

The Summer University of Tuzla will continue over the coming days with a rich program of lectures, workshops, cultural events, and sports activities — once again confirming its status as one of the region’s leading academic events.
