Ahmed Omerović, Minister of Education and Science of the Tuzla Canton, today approved the use of the TKFIT application in primary schools of the Tuzla Canton. The TKFIT application is intended for monitoring the physical and motor development of students from the 5th to the 9th grade of primary school, with the aim of systematically tracking children’s physical and motor development through the measurement of somatic characteristics (height, body weight, triceps skinfold) and the assessment of motor abilities (aerobic capacity, strength, flexibility, speed, coordination), i.e. parameters used to calculate the physical fitness index and the child’s nutritional status.

“Monitoring the physical and motor development of children through the application developed by the Faculty of Physical Education of the University of Tuzla will be carried out in all schools with the consent of parents/guardians and opens opportunities for better cooperation between schools and the Faculty with the aim of improving physical and health education classes and children’s health,” said Minister Omerović.

The testing phase of the TKFIT application will be carried out until the end of the current school year in the following schools: Primary School “Višča” Višća, Primary School “Tušanj” Tuzla, Primary School “Džakule” Džakule and Primary School “Grivice” Banovići.

“We will use this period until the end of the school year to conduct the testing phase of the application in selected schools and, before the beginning of the next school year, organize appropriate training for school administrators and physical education teachers for the use of the application. Based on the collected data, our task is to regularly submit reports to the Ministry and the Pedagogical Institute, along with recommendations for the proper growth and development of children,” said Edin Užičanin, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of the University of Tuzla.
