Participation in the international conference “Innovation for growth: Acceleration of sustainable development through innovation”

The Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Sc. Vesna Bratovčić, participated in the panel titled “Strengthening Innovations through Academia-Industry Collaboration” at the international conference “Innovate for Growth: Accelerating Sustainable Development through Innovation.” This conference gathered 180 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the European Union, and the Western Balkans, aiming to strengthen the region’s innovation ecosystem.

Over two days, policymakers, business leaders, academics, and innovators exchanged ideas on how to turn innovation into a driver of sustainable growth, inclusion, and competitiveness. Participation in the conference significantly contributed to networking, experience sharing, and the exchange of best practices from the country, region, and the European Union, which will, among other things, greatly contribute to the implementation of activities within the Erasmus+ project Development of Research and Development Strategies and Centers in BiH – RDBiH, in which the University of Tuzla is a partner.

Key takeaways from the conference include:

  • Stronger collaboration based on the Triple Helix Principles to foster innovation through closer interaction between academia, industry, and government.
  • Enhanced innovation policies and governance to create a more enabling environment for startups and R&D.
  • Improved access to financing through public-private mechanisms and innovation funds.
  • Investing in education and 21st-century skills to prepare young people for jobs of the future.
  • Regional cooperation inspired by EU best practices to scale impactful innovations.

The conference was organized under the project “Economic Governance for Growth” (#EGG2), funded by the Norwegian Embassy in Sarajevo and implemented by #UNDPBiH.
