The University Basketball Club “Student” was founded in 2001, and after a seven-year break, it was actived and successfully started the competition in the season 2021/22, in the second highest quality level of competition within the FBiH League 1, Group North.
The preparatory activities for reactivating the work of the Club lasted for ten months, and as of September 1 this year, the club is in the training process. The management of the Club consists of young people who were basketball players, educated and graduated at the University of Tuzla, and now they are successful in their professions, Kenan Sijerčić, Emir Delalić, Muamer Softić, Saša Džambić, as well as a representative of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports.
he coach of the club is a former player of the ”Student” Prof. of Physical Education and Sports Vlado Mićanović, and Prof. Zoran Iličković helps with his advices and the link between the professional team and the administration is the sports director, also a former student player Edin Nurkanović. The team is composed as a successful mix of young players who are still in the final grade of high school, students of the University of Tuzla and three more experienced players who graduated from the University of Tuzla, and previously been part of the Student, and now have the opportunity to help their young colleagues so that the Club has immediately successful results.
After six matches played, UBC Student recorded all six victories in Živinice, Travnik and Tešanj, while in the University Hall, which is again the center of quality University sports, victories were achieved against teams from Gračanica, Žepče and Bihać.
The last match against the team Željo 1971 from Bihać UBC ‘’Student’’ won with the score 122 : 70, with players: Jasmin Jakupović (12 points), Haris Andelija (16), Adem Mahmutović (10), Miodrag Tanasilović (10), Mirza Hrnjčić (20), Amel Salkić (14), Zlatko Golijanin (19), Alem Alić, Sanjin Adam Majagić (9), Selmir Husarkić (1), Tarik Osmanović (9) and Jasmin Agić (2).
By the end of the first part of the UBC season, ”Student” will take part in Srebrenik and it will host team from Brčko and it will continue preparing for the second part of the season, where it will most likely play in the playoffs for the A 1 League champion. The management is working on preparing a program for the second part of the season, and also plans further development of the Club to provide conditions for the arrival of young players from the region to the Club and to University of Tuzla.
